Groove Juice Swing, established in 2004, is based in Rochester, NY and specializes in Lindy Hop, the original swing dance from the 1920s and 1930s. GJS offers dance classes, weekly social dances, live band dance events, performances, and dance workshops throughout the year. Annual events include Stompology, a solo jazz workshop weekend; a weekend with world renowned Lindy Hop instructors Steven Mitchell and Virginie Jensen; and the Red Hot Holiday Ball, a free social dance and party dedicated to all of the newest swing dancers in the community. Swing dancers can be spotted multiple times per week at the spacious Tango Café Dance Studio in Rochester’s Southwedge neighborhood.
Groove Juice Swing continuously offers beginner, intermediate, and advanced Lindy Hop and swing dance lessons on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings. Wednesday evening is Lindy Jam, the weekly DJed swing dance hosted by Groove Juice Swing. Lindy Jam’s friendly atmosphere makes it the perfect venue to meet the scene and practice those dance moves learned in class. Once a month, Groove Juice Swing presents the Groove Juice Special, a social dance on a weekend evening preceded by a free introductory swing dance lesson. Periodically, local or national jazz bands are booked for the event.
