Heat It Up

Aaaaaahhhh... it’s that time of year again, when we get to wrap ourselves up in soft, comfy sweaters, breath in the crisp autumn air and warm our bellies with yummy hot cider cocktails! So, bundle up and go grab yourself some fresh apple cider (Schutt’s Apple Mill is my personal favorite), heat it up, snag a bottle (or a few) of your favorite spirits, add a simple garnish to make it your own, and sip away!

One nice thing about hot cider cocktails is that they are super simple; you don’t need 20 ingredients and complicated recipes to make delicious drinks. Plus, almost any type of booze pairs well with cider, so go wild and get creative. I have made a list of some of my favorites, along with a list of accompaniments and garnishes that you can add to fancy-it-up. Mix and match. Experiment. Do it for science, it will be fun! 

Booze:

  • Caramel Whiskey / Caramel Vodka
  • Pecan Pie Whiskey
  • Irish Whiskey
  • Honey Whiskey
  • Maple Bourbon
  • Spiced Rum
  • Dark Rum
  • Vanilla Vodka
  • Fireball / Cinnamon Liquor Butterscotch Schnapps

Garnishes:

  • Maple Syrup
  • Raw Sugar / Brown Sugar
  • Rim Orange or Lemon Slices Whipped Cream
  • Crystalized Ginger
  • Cloves & Nutmeg
  • Star Anise
